Predicting the ‘Survivor: Ghost Island’ finale

The finale is here for Survivor: Ghost Island. The season had so much potential despite fervent fans on the deep reaches of the internet hating the theme and being skeptical of a 20-person season.

We started off pretty much filled with action and memorable characters. Fanboy Jacob got 14 (FOURTEEN) confessionals in his only two episodes. Poor Sebastian is in the finale and probably doesn’t even have that. We had the epic Dom vs Chris Cold War that culminated exactly how we all assumed it would. We me the Heir to Ozzy, Malcolm, and Joe’s Golden Boy Throne: a short-haired 18-year-old “realtor” aka model Michael. Let’s just assume he is back for Season 38 or 39; whichever is a returner season.

We’ve made it to Ghost Island’s not-so-Elite Eight

Poor Jenna. I didn’t really know what she sounded like until the previous episode. Today she finally got some content before… well, getting her inevitable boot. She was an expected casualty. Michael was as well. In a sense. He was a heavy hitter, but I never thought he had a chance.

Oh — spoilers, by the way.

Survivor: Ghost Island – Episodes 1 and 2 Recap

The early hype surrounding the 36th season of Survivor was mixed. The theme is Ghost Island. No one really knew what we could expect.

It was going to be used similarly to Exile Island – where castaways are exiled from their tribe and sometimes they can find Hidden Immunity Idols, but they lose the ability to bond with their tribe. But because host Jeff Probst kept billing it as a graveyard for bad decisions and promos hinted that previous idols and advantages were going to come into play, fans knew that this would be a heavily twisted season.

On ‘HIMYM’ and the idea of series finales

Warning: spoilers for multiple shows, including HIMYM follow.

Is anyone ever pleased from a finale of a beloved television series? It seems that it was impossible to please everyone with the most recent highly anticipated finale from CBS.

How I Met Your Mother ended after nine long seasons, including a less than stellar final season which only spanned one weekend. The finale itself was unevenly paced with a depressing ending only to be followed by one last minute twist that was actually planned from the beginning. A lot love it. A lot hate it. But no one is in the middle over it.

‘HIMYM:’ the 45 Days monologue

HIMYM (8.20)

Last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother presented Ted talking to a lot of future versions of himself and Barney, but in the end it was all a ploy to reveal how along Ted really was in April 2013. Future Ted begins a voiceover telling his kids that if he could go anywhere that night that he wouldn’t go to Robots vs. Wrestlers. They knew where he’d go. He’d go to 115th Street to find his future wife. A fantasy sequence finds him there, talking to Future Wife. Here’s what he had to say:

Favorites of 2012: returning television

Over the course of December, I’ll present a series of my own end of 2012 lists. Unlike many, I won’t give you a best of list because that’s no fun. Instead I’ll give you lists of my favorite things from 2012. Because let’s face it: the best stuff isn’t always what you love the most.
